This year, the Beat Diabetes initiative will partner for the sixth consecutive year with the Al Jalila Foundation to raise funds to support diabetes research and healthcare in the UAE.

A global not-for-profit organization, Al Jalila Foundation was established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support medical education, research, and treatment in the UAE.

As a part of the fundraising drive, customers who shop at any of Landmark Group’s over 550 retail and hospitality outlets in the UAE will have the option of donating to the cause by adding AED 5 or multiples of 5 to their total shopping bills. An internal barcode mechanism has been created to record each contribution.

Meanwhile, a nominal participation fee of AED 20 per adult and AED10 per head for children between 8 and 15 years will be charged when participants register for the eleventh Annual Beat Diabetes walk, with proceeds allocated to the Al Jalila Foundation. Children below the age of eight can participate in the walk for free.

The UAE, currently has one of the highest incidences of diabetes in the region. This strategic partnership is one of the first in the UAE to support diabetes research and healthcare.
